Dax Craig is the co-founder, president, and chief executive officer of Valen Analytics, an advanced data and analytics provider for the property and casualty insurance industry. Valen leverages its large consortium data assets to help carriers price insurance policies more accurately and achieve lower loss ratios.Prior to founding Valen in 2004, Dax was founder and CEO of Xertex Technologies, a leading provider of antennas for Wi-Fi, in-building wireless, and telematics. He led the progress of the company from a concept he developed as an MBA student at the University of Colorado to its eventual acquisition by Centurion Wireless, now part of Laird plc. At the time of Xertex’s acquisition, Centurion was a global leader in the wireless antenna industry with over $150 million in annual revenue, seven factories, locations in five countries and over 1,500 employees.Dax proceeded to be vice president of global business development at Centurion, where he was directly responsible for global business development including sales, market definition, market segmentation, market research, strategic planning and market development.Believing in the importance of community involvement, Dax founded the Monticello Foundation, an organization of young professionals that raised money for Denver area children’s charities. He also founded Stay Tuned Colorado, a non-partisan organization that engaged young professionals to become more involved in the process of selecting national political leaders.He currently serves on the executive advisory board of the University of Tulsa’s College of Business and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization. Most recently, Dax was selected as a board member to the National Sports Center for the Disabled. Previously, he has served on the board of several community organizations including the Denver Opera and the Metro Denver Sports Commission.Dax graduated from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing. He earned his MBA in finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Chris McShea is a Principal within the Financial Services Office of Ernst & Young LLP (EY). He has managed a variety of client facing practices for the Firm. During his twenty-eight years of insurance industry experience, Mr. McShea has had the opportunity to work across the major functions of insurance carriers and brokers. His client service focus has been directed at supporting executive agendas targeting growth and profitability. He currently is leading the Firm’s Advanced Analytics practice for Financial Services. The practice is designed to assist clients in exploring the role of advanced analytics in advancing a company’s business model. His approach is to develop pragmatic solutions that blend cross industry best practices with the unique risks faced by the insurance industry.Since joining EY, Mr. McShea has been involved in a wide variety of strategic advisory assignments. Examples of projects he has led include:- Determining how competitive clients pricing systems are- Assessing sales practices within a marketplace- Evaluating affinity based distribution platforms- Assessing the viability of clients profit projections- Developing predictive models measuring customer behavior- Assessing line of business growth opportunities- Transaction integration assistanceMr. McShea recently led the development of EY’s concept paper on innovation entitled “Focused Innovation – Exploring the Property/Casualty Insurance Industry’s Competing Objectives”.Prior to joining EY in 2002, Mr. McShea managed the property and casualty business unit for a software development company focused on Internet applications. Prior to that, he served as National Practice Director of the property and casualty business unit for another major consulting firm. Mr. McShea has been quoted in the national press on a variety of insurance issues and is a frequent speaker at insurance conferences. He has served on various committees supporting the United Way of Chicago and participated as a mentor for the Mentium 100 Program. Mr. McShea is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University.

Gilda Spencer is Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel in Dispute Resolution Services for Allstate. In that role, Gilda leads a team of 40 associates in managing the litigation portfolio for Allstate including Special Operations and Corporate and Claim Litigation. Before joining Allstate, Gilda was Vice President, Chief Litigation Counsel for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company where she managed 45 associates and the entire litigation on portfolio for the Nationwide family of companies. Prior to joining Nationwide in 2001, she served as Assistant Unites States Attorney for the Southern District for Ohio. Before that, Gilda was an associate with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps in San Diego, California.Gilda is on the Advisory Council of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) as well as a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association (ACC) where she serves as a Minority Summer Internship Program Mentor. Gilda is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She earned her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she served as President of the Black Law Students Association.
Vivian Ciampi is a Principal at Professional Coaching, LLC.� She provides leadership coaching and workshops to professionals, teams and entrepreneurs. ��She spent sixteen years as a Vice President at Travelers where she built a successful coaching program and coached many to the ranks of leadership. �She was very instrumental in creating their Product Management business and held various leadership positions in their early direct distribution efforts as head of the Citibank channel and their Modeling and Segmentation unit. �Prior to this, Vivian held several leadership roles in the Global Cash Management division of JP Morgan Chase.� She worked with cross-functional senior leadership teams across the country at clients such as Ingersoll Rand, United Technologies, UPS, Exxon, Continental Airlines, etc.�She holds a MBA from the University of Connecticut, B. A. in Economics from Fairfield University and is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. ��Vivian is currently working on a book, which is largely based on the content that she will present at this conference.
