    Mr. Bentsen is Executive Vice President, Public Policy and Advocacy at SIFMA, responsible for SIFMA’s legal, regulatory, and legislative affairs and advocacy initiatives. Prior to joining SIFMA, Mr. Bentsen was president of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, where he led the 700-member financial services trade association representing commercial and investment banks, financial services companies and manufacturers in the commercial finance sector. In that role he developed and implemented a new strategic direction for this principal industry association. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Bentsen was a Managing Director at Public Strategies, Inc. where he was a strategic and management consultant principally to the firm’s financial services clients. From 1995 to 2003, Mr. Bentsen served as a Member of the United States House of Representatives from Texas, where he sat on the House Financial Services Committee (and its predecessor House Banking and Financial Services Committee), and separately on the House Budget Committee. Mr. Bentsen was an active participant in the drafting and enactment of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and the Commodities Futures Modernization Act. During his tenure in the Congress, he played an active role in legislation and oversight of regulations affecting bank and thrift charters, federal deposit insurance, securities law, derivatives, and the federal government sponsored enterprises (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the FHLB system). Mr. Bentsen was also instrumental in the passage of the landmark Balanced Budget Act of 1997, particularly with respect to health care policy. Prior to his service in Congress, Mr. Bentsen was an investment banker at both a major Wall Street firm and a large regional firm, where he specialized in municipal and mortgage finance. Mr. Bentsen has a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and an M.P.A. from American University.

    Brian Edwards is responsible for Retail Banking, Banking Operations, Marketing and Product Management at Astoria Federal Savings, a subsidiary of Astoria Financial Corporation (NYSE:AF). Astoria Financial has assets of $17 billion and $11 billion in deposits, giving Astoria Federal the fourth largest deposit market share in the competitive Long Island, New York market.His management experience is primarily within financial services, including Citigroup and Bank of America, as well as consumer goods (Gatorade) and sports marketing (New York Islanders). An alumnus of Hofstra University, he serves on the boards of key New York nonprofit organizations, is an avid boater and plays ice hockey regularly.

    Scott Baran is the Mass Affluent Segment Director for Sovereign Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Banco Santander. He joined the company in October 2009. In his current role he is responsible for defining the bank’s mass affluent strategy, including the client experience and value proposition. Scott has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry including the past eight years focused on the Mass Affluent segment.Prior to his current role, Scott spent 13 years at Bank of America in various roles including serving as the National Sales Executive for Preferred Services where he was responsible for the sales activities of a national sales force focused on growing the share of wallet of emerging mass affluent customers. Scott has a B.S. of Finance from Bentley University.

    John Stumpf became Chairman for Wells Fargo & Company in January 2010. He was named Chief Executive Officer in June 2007, elected to Wells Fargo’s Board of Directors in June 2006, and has been President since August 2005. A 30-year veteran of the company, he joined the former Norwest Corporation (predecessor of Wells Fargo) in 1982 in the loan administration department and then became senior vice president and chief credit officer for Norwest Bank, N.A., Minneapolis. He held a number of management positions at Norwest Bank Minneapolis and Norwest Bank Minnesota before assuming responsibility for Norwest Bank Arizona in 1989. He was named regional president for Norwest Banks in Colorado/Arizona in 1991.From 1994 to 1998, he was regional president for Norwest Bank Texas. During his four years in that position, he led Norwest’s acquisition of 30 Texas banks with total assets of more than $13 billion. In 1998, with the merger of Norwest Corporation and Wells Fargo & Company, he became head of the Southwestern Banking Group (Arizona, New Mexico and Texas). Two years later he became head of the new Western Banking Group (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming). In 2000, he led the integration of Wells Fargo’s acquisition of the $23 billion First Security Corporation, based in Salt Lake City. In May 2002, he was named Group EVP of Community Banking. In December 2008, he led one of the largest mergers in history with the purchase of Wachovia.He serves on the Board of Directors for The Clearing House, the Financial Services Roundtable, Target Corporation, and Chevron Corporation. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.A Minnesota native, he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota and his MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Minnesota.

    Mary John Miller serves as the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Under Secretary for Domestic Finance. As Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, Miller is responsible for developing and coordinating Treasury’s policies and guidance in the areas of financial institutions, federal debt financing, financial regulation, and capital markets.Previously, Miller served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Markets, where she advised the Secretary on broad matters of domestic finance, financial markets, federal, state and local finance, and federal government lending policies. In this role, she has been responsible for Treasury’s management of the public debt.Prior to joining Treasury, Miller spent 26 years working for T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., where she was the director of the Fixed Income Division and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Miller received a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.C.R.P. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Miller also has earned her Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

    Mike has been with CIBC since 2010 and has been spearheading CIBC�s resurgence in the Canadian Small Business Banking segment.In his current role as Sr. Director, Small Business Banking, Mike is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and direction in four main areas to support Business Banking�s Small Business strategic objectives:� (i) developing Segment Strategy and initiatives, (ii) leveraging and developing the capabilities of front line staff, (iii) facilitating the leadership and management of the front line staff, and (iv) testing, piloting and executing tools, structures or products.�In the past year, under Mike�s leadership, the bank has made a foray into the �Virtual Advisor� strategy to improve Client Experience and Revenue per Customer results.� Using webcams and Live Meeting, the centralized team of 18 is capable of providing joint client meeting support nationally which has resulted in remarkable increases in the number of accounts opened and the number of products (including Credit) sold in the initial client meeting.Prior to joining CIBC, Mike was Sr. Vice President, Small Business Banking at Raiffeisen International.� Based in Vienna, Austria, Raiffeisen managed a network of 15 banks in countries throughout Central and Eastern Europe, South Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.� The Small Business franchise was present in 3000 branches, including a mix of small and large bank operations ranging from a 25 branch footprint to a 1200 branch footprint.

    Tim Pawlenty serves as president and CEO of The Financial Services Roundtable which represents leading financial service companies in their efforts to protect the security, integrity and success of our nation�s financial system. He previously served as governor of the State of Minnesota (2003-2011). As his state�s CEO, he was responsible for a $50 billion biennial budget, 30,000 employees and over 20 agencies and departments. His work as governor included promoting international business opportunities through trade missions to nine countries. As governor, he was also responsible for disaster preparedness and response, appointment of judges, and for serving as commander in chief of Minnesota�s National Guard. As chair of the State Board of Investment, Mr. Pawlenty provided oversight over $60 billion in investments. His education, health care and energy initiatives were widely viewed as among the most innovative in the nation. He served as chair of the National Governor�s Association (2007-2008), chair of the Education Commission of the States (2008-2010), and chair of the Midwest Governor�s Association (2006-2007). From 1986 to 2000, Mr. Pawlenty practiced law in the areas of criminal prosecution, civil litigation and appeals. He also served as vice president of corporate development for Wizmo, an early stage technology services company. He has served as a board member for numerous companies. Mr. Pawlenty served in the Minnesota House of Representatives (1993-2003) where he was elected majority leader by his colleagues (1999-2003). He received a B.A. from the University of Minnesota with Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honors. He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
